40th annual Old Time Fiddlers Picnic

Date: Aug 1-3, 2014
One mile South of Livingston, Montana (I-90) on US 89
The 40th annual Old Time Fiddlers Picnic will be held Aug 1-3, 2014 one mile South of Livingston, Montana (I-90) on US 89. Look for the signs. See fiddlerspicnic.blogspot.com/ for more details on the picnic. It is a good deal more than a picnic and welcomes any players of roots music. Lots of jamming around the campground which is on the Old Mercier Ranch. While there are spectators there are a good deal more musicians. Tin Can Tourists are invited to gather in conjunction with the Picnic. It is dry camping with no electric, but there are porta potties provided, a free breakfast on Sun and a pot luck with meat supplied Sat afternoon. The Yellowstone River runs down one side of the property for those of you who fly fish. Camping is free but you must be a TCT member (membership available on site) and TCT members are expected to contribute for an event button to the tune of $25 for each trailer. We'll camp together on the site. Wonderful to go to sleep under the Montana sky being serenaded by bluegrass, old timey, mountain, Celtic, gospel, cowboy singers and the like. Since there is a heavy emphasis on musicians we are hoping that many of the TCT members also bring and play their instruments. Dogs are welcome but keep them under control. Too dry this time of year for campfires on this ranch but propane campfires are OK. We plan to have a dash plaque/nametag and a few trophies but mainly this is just a great camp out. US 89 is the Northern Gateway to the Yellowstone National Park, Chico Hot Springs is near and it is at the head of Paradise Valley which pretty much says it all. If you fly-fish, hike, mountain bike or whatever, this is the event for you.
For further information contact Dal Smilie at dalsmilie@aol.com
The TCT Colorado group is organizing a caravan to the event - you can read the details here: http://www.meetup.com/Tin-Can-Tourists-Colorado/events/162620502/

Cars For Cancer Car Show

Date: August 31 - Sept 1, 2014
Where: Mercy Health Partners, 6291 S. Harvey St., Muskegon, MI 49444
This will be year 10 of doing the show and have raised more than $120,000.00 for patient care at the Johnson Family Center for Cancer Care in Muskegon Michigan. We are a small family based car club called Different Strokes Car Club and joined with the Knights of Columbus #13035 which I am a member to help do something good for our community. We had almost 800 cars, bikes, and a few old trailers. I am working with the hospital to see if we could set area up for just trailer and overnight camping with no power for the show. The car show is Labor Day, but the event has turned into a two day show with the Sunday night as a Cruise night and entertainment tent. It is a low cost of ten dollars for both days. We would really love to see a large group from TCT club.
