I have heard that there are campgrounds that refuse any unit over 10 yrs old.
I have never run into this myself, but if there was a book telling who these were, it would make planing trips more easy.

I have never seen such a book. Most of those I have heard about seem to be very upscale or aimed at full time rv'ers. I made a trip across the US last year with my 1960 Kenskill and had no problems, I generally stayed at KOA's but that may not be a guarantee either.
I would suggest laying out your trip and asking about places to stay along the way on this and other trailer forums. If people know specifically where you are asking about they can give you better answers. Aside from that, check the Park web sites or call ahead. I have dogs and try to check ahead for that reason,

I've heard of that in mobile-home parks but not campgrounds. This, of course, ignores the luxe places that pecialize in huge Prevosts and the like.

On the other hand, I saw a TV show the other night touting this glitzy millionaire-bus camping 'resort' near Las Vegas. Everything you ever dreamed about on your site, including furniture! Pools, bars, etc. On the exit segue, though, they said he price (get this!) $40 a day!!! For that price, I'm a-comin!

The campground we love has a 20 yr old rule for permanents only. If you're over 20 years they then judge by outside looks. If it looks to grubby and old your out.

by law they can not exclude anyone for any reason. They will open their campground up for a law suite. but,If the trailer has safety problems that they can prov. than yes, this is an issue. but, that would be a trailer etc. that could not be safe on the roads. thus, the police could cause a problem.

I know they may be unsure of the trailer but, lets think this threw?

Did a RV expert Inspect all the systems for safety? If not you should every Two years. Keep a copy or two in the trailer. And IF only IF they try to deny you just show them the inspection. This is simple and easy. If they don't like it then you can go the route of discrimination and tell them you will report them because if that trailer etc was inspected than there would be NO Issues for their Campground Insurance.

Plus, Your Insurance covers your trailer when it is connected to the tow Car/Truck

I hope this will help those out there. I only had one problem like this but, when I produced a inspection they then backed down.

I have come across a few parks with restrictions. One was in North Central FL. I was told NO RV over 10 years would be allowed!!!! I called to check and told them I had an older Trailer and wanted to know if it would be excepted? They asked how old, when I told them 59 Years old the lady laughed, then said NO WAY and hung up! I called back and was told not only did they not accept older than 10 years, but no Tents, Pop ups, Conversion Vans or Coach Busses! And to top it all off, It was a huge resort that had its own little town in the restort that was built like a 1940's and 1950's town!!!! Vintage Railroad, Hardware, Church, Firehouse, etc.... I thought this was going to be a great place to have my Vintage Trailer! Guess not!

Places like that just show that in the long run they only want a customer that buys new units every 10 years. With this economy you may find that they either change their way or go out of business. Not many people are buying new units. Our local dealer went out of business and the second one is not far. there is a small dealer here in town that has stoped with new units in stock and only do repairs mostly heavy damaged units which the other companies will not touch. This guy is real small. and only can work on one unit at a time inside. He owns the building so, he will stay around.

Either way. The places that refuse to allow units older than 10 years just open their business up for future problems in the long run.

If I do get around to buying a bit of land to put my business on and a campground. Well, All campers would be welcome that are in safe condition. Those are those people that tend to care for their units. and Just think. They have more money because they don't need to buy a new one every 10 years!!!! Laughing Rolling Eyes
